The scuppernong is North Carolina's native grape, and in 1910 it was also the state's signature wine. Sol Bear & Company of Wilmington was one of the regional merchants who carried and celebrated scuppernong wine long before craft beverages had a name. Long before anyone called it terroir, North Carolinians knew the taste of their own vine — and Sol Bear made sure they could find it.
